Fall Down. Get Up.

Fall Down. Get Up.

That’s the name of the game.
I fall down. Tripped up in my negative thoughts.
Man, those thoughts sound real.

I Fall Down.

I believe those thoughts.
They are in the air. I catch them in my sticky-mind-net.
I join them in the net.
Stuck.

“I’ll never get this.”
“I can’t figure this out.”
“Why isn’t this working?”
“Why is this so hard?”

The thoughts come fast and furious. Tripping over each other, interrupting each other.
All saying the same thing with different words taking me to the same result.

Fall Down With Spin.

I spin out of control, down, down, down into spin – and no result.
All positivity, motivation and determination wrung right out of me.

How to Go From Spin to Flo?

Yes, I’ve given names to these two very distinct conversations.
“Thank you, Spin, for sharing. Let’s hear what Flo has to say.”

Get Up With Flo.

“Flo?”
I may have to take a deep breath and give Flo a moment to find her thoughts.
She grounds herself.
She inhales, exhales.
She feels the soles of her feet on the ground, wriggles them around.
She chooses her thoughts with care.

“You’ve got this.”
“Be patient.”
“This is a journey to somewhere you’ve never been before. Being uncomfortable and not knowing are part of the learning.”
“Get back up and on your feet. You can do this.”
“Just take a step.”
“Let go of your tight grip of holding on.”
“Take the next step.”
“Keep going.”

And that’s how it’s done.
How fast can you go from Fall Down with Spin to Get Up with Flo?
That’s the name of the game.
