Give Your Feelings Room to BE

This is my gentle reminder to you.
Give your feelings room to BE.

Allow your feelings the space they need to run fully across the field of your mind.

When you feel a feeling rumble up and rise within your gut to your chest – and maybe to your face, and your head — allow it to be.

The feeling will rise, the feeling will rest and the feeling will dissipate.

You don’t have to DO anything in the exact moment.

The feeling comes up, the feeling goes down.
Like a breath. Like an ocean wave.

It will pass.

Many of my clients – and I, myself – have trouble refraining from taking action while we are in the feeling.

We want to do something.
SOMETHING.
ANYTHING.

Make it go away.

What you might play with as an experiment, as an explorer of your Feeling Self, is to be curious and simply witness your feelings.
Observe your feelings of discomfort.

Watch without judgement your feelings of worry, of anger, of distrust, of jealousy.

You’ve got this.
Give your feelings a lot of room to simply BE.
Let them sprint across the field, kick up their heels and blow off some steam.

Many of us try to clamp down on our feelings the moment they arise.
We have a “negative” feeling and we immediately respond with an “I don’t want to be feeling that feeling” and do our best to suppress that feeling.

We push it down and poof it pops up again like a game of “Whack a Mole”.

What we resist, persists.

It’s like the law of gravity.
There is no escaping it.
We must allow the feeling to arise and BE.

There’s no way around it.
We will have to spend time with that “negative” feeling.

Allow your feelings the room to take up space and run across the entire field.

You will know when your feeling has run its course.
It may be 10 seconds or a full minute – or an entire day.

Give your feelings the space they need.

There is nothing to do or fix.

Let your feelings be what they are.

There is no need to:

  • Act in an automatic knee jerk reaction.
  • Avoid being with your feeling.
  • Numb yourself with alcohol or marijuana or Netflix or Facebook.

Investigate that feeling.

Own it.
Find its precise shade of meaning and vibration tone.
Name it.
Locate precisely where it is vibrating in your body.

Only THEN after a PAUSE are you ready to examine and possibly let go of the STORY you are telling yourself.

Today is the day.
Go out and practice.
Allow your feelings the space they need to run fully across the field of your mind.

Give your feelings room to BE.

Wishing you Peace, Love & Joy.

Love & hugs,

Gail
