This is my gentle reminder to you.
Be big and bold WITH your fear.
Push yourself to grow and evolve.
Last week I had a client say that she wanted to be fearless.
That was one of the goals she had for our 6-week coaching program together.
Becoming fearless.
That wasn’t going to happen. And I told her so.
She wanted to know if she would ever outgrow her constant fear and self-doubt.
I told her I didn’t know.
I haven’t experienced it yet.
Fear is part of being a human.
What I have learned is how to live life full out – WITH fear.
Some days my fear shows up as bees buzzing in my chest.
Other days it’s a backpack full of rocks weighing me down.
I live my life WITH my fear.
Living a life without fear isn’t an option.
And – hard to believe – you actually want to have fear.
WHAT!?
Without fear, you would never feel courageous.
Or BRAVE, or BIG & BOLD or AUDACIOUS.
Who wants to live life without feeling those feelings?
Fear is the prerequisite.
First you feel fear.
Then you feel COURAGEOUS.
I can help you live WITH your fear.
This I know.
FACT: You are not alone, carrying that extra weight of fear everywhere you go.
According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, approximately 40 million American adults live with some sort of anxiety.
40 million Americans.
That was in 2018, before COVID.
And even then, that number was most probably underrepresented.
It is possible to live a BIG & BOLD life WITH the fear.
Let’s get fear out of the driver’s seat and put you back in charge.
5 Steps to Living With Fear
Step 1 – Acknowledge it.
Use the words that work for you.
“Hi Fear. It’s you again.”
“I’m afraid – and it’s OK.”
“Fear. Just fear.”
Step 2 – Accept it.
It helps to accept your fear as an attribute like your height or your eye color.
“I have fear and I have brown eyes.”
“I’m 5’4″ and I have fear.”
It’s just the way it is.
I have fear.
Steps 1 & 2 may be all you have to do and you can move forward with Grace and Ease.
Lucky you.
It also helps to welcome fear with love.
Fear is like an awkward and defiant teenager.
She just wants love and compassion even when it feels like that’s the last thing she’s asking for.
Step 3 – Push Through It.
This is where it can get ugly.
Messy.
Sticky.
Fear can stop you dead in your tracks.
It can keep you at a standstill where there’s no wind in your sails.
The doldrums.
Out at sea between a desire and a debilitating fear.
No forward motion.
Stuck.
“If you’re going through hell, keep going.”
– Winston Churchill
This is the hardest part.
It will take effort.
You will need to push yourself out the door and into action.
Having a coach is very helpful at this stage.
(Having a coach helps at all the stages.)
Breathe and push.
Let your desire pull you forward. Believe in it with all your heart.
Birth your new evolved self into being.
Do it. Take the action that you are most afraid of.
Step forward to bring your dream into being.
(It goes much faster with a coach or a teammate. Just sayin’.)
Step 4 – Celebrate Your Successes and Learnings
Brag.
Allow your friends (and your coach) to cheer you on.
Ask yourself, “What did I learn from this experience?”
There are no failures.
It’s all learning.
Celebrate, celebrate, celebrate.
Step 5 – Never Give Up.
Not an option.
You will feel more fear and self-doubt.
It’s part of the process.
You’ll want to quit.
There will be a lot of cursing and foul language.
Take solace knowing that you are not alone.
Living a big and bold life with your fear involves accepting who you are as you are.
All the while pushing yourself to evolve and grow, wanting more, and becoming the very best person you can be in this lifetime.
Today is the day.
Push yourself to grow and evolve.
Be big and bold WITH your fear.

Here are 5 easy suggestions:
1. Get enough sleep. Establish a bedtime routine and follow it.
2. Get outside every day. Rain or shine. Take a walk.
3. Appreciate what is wonderful in the world. Write 3 things you are grateful for every day.
4. Get a buddy. Call them every day. Ask how they are and what they are up to. Ask them if they need anything.
5. Give yourself a pleasure treat. Pick yourself some flowers. Take a nap. Read a novel. Do anything you want – just for the fun of it.
With all my love.
From my heart to yours.
