Marriage & Boredom

Marriage & Boredom

This is my gentle reminder to you.
Longevity in a relationship does not equal boredom.

Bring the right mind set to your marriage.

Marriage & Boredom

I met my husband 30 years ago at a local Farmers’ Market.
He was there to sell honey.
I was there on a friend’s suggestion to scope him out.

I took a gander at his cowboy boots, strolled over, chatted him up and gave him my phone number.
Spark at first sight.

I’ll share the rest of the story in bits and pieces in future blog posts.

Marriage & Boredom

My honey and I have been married for 23 ½ years and have had our share of challenges to marital bliss.
Somehow getting through those long lulls strengthened our connection and brought us closer together.

To my delight, new dimensions of emotional and physical intimacy continued to open up for us along the way, decades after we declared our wedding vows.

Who knew?

Marriage & Boredom

It’s a myth that longevity in a committed relationship leads to boredom in the bedroom – or in any room of the house.

What I discovered is that with the right mind set and intention, a long-term committed relationship can actually provide the safety to fully share oneself emotionally and sexually with another human being.

In whatever way that brings you pleasure.

My parents got divorced when I was in middle school.
Each remarried when I was already living on my own as a young adult.
I didn’t witness on a day to day basis what a successful marriage looked and felt like.

Marriage & Boredom

The trust that developed over time our relationship was a surprise gift in my marriage.

Marriage provides a unique opportunity to grow and evolve.
I promise, you will never be bored.

Go out and practice.
Bring the right mind set to your marriage.

Longevity in a relationship does not equal boredom.

Most important. Take care of you.

Here are 5 easy suggestions:
1. Get enough sleep. Establish a bedtime routine and follow it.

2. Get outside in nature every day. Rain or shine.
3. Appreciate what is wonderful in the world. Write 3-5 things you are grateful for each day.
4. Reach out to a sister. Call her once a week – or every day. Ask how she is and what she is feeling. Give her the space to release her feelings without any judgment or fixing.
5. Treat yourself to pleasure. Dance. Take a nap. Sing out loud. Read a novel. Soak in the tub. Do anything you want – just for the pleasure of it.

With all my love.
From my heart to yours.
Gail
