I will admit I have my days when I just don’t want to.
I don’t want to do what I have in my calendar.I don’t want to do what’s on my list.I don’t want to do what I said I would do.
I don’t want to honor my word.
“I don’t want to!”
I am a three year old in my mind – having a temper tantrum.I am in full out resistance.
How do I get myself from “I don’t want to”, to getting the job done?How do I get myself from HERE to THERE when HERE and THERE are galaxies apart?
I start with the Triple A Process.
Step 1 – Awareness
“There I am having the thought ‘I don’t want to’. Again. “I may even laugh at myself.Or sometimes I even relish the thought and roll around in it.“I don’t want to.”
Step 2 – Accept
I don’t beat myself up or will myself to be something that I’m not.”I don’t want to.” Period.
Step 3 – Allow
I give myself time and room to feel my “I don’t want to”.I let my thought just be and digest through me.
Take that next action step toward what you value most.
This thought “I don’t want to” has a feeling with it.RESISTANCE.
I name it.I feel it.
It’s heavy.It sucks the energy right out of me.
Next I consider what actions I take when I feel RESISTANCE.
Usually it’s NO ACTION.Zip. Nada & Zilch.
I name the results I get from “I don’t want to”, RESISTANCE, and NO ACTION.Predictably – NO RESULTS.

What result would I prefer?Task is complete.I did what I said I would do.
What would I need to feel in order to get that result?What would I need to feel in order to have the task be complete?
Motivated.Energized.Inspired.
What would I need to think in order to feel MOTIVATED?
“I am someone who gets things done.”“I am someone who takes care of what needs to be taken care of. That’s who I am.”“I am someone who does what they say they will do. I am someone who can be counted on.”“I am someone who honors their word. Even to themselves. Especially to themselves.”
What results do these thoughts produce?I get the job done.Task complete.
Today is the day.Go out and practice.Feel what you need to feel in order to think what you need to think to take that next action step to get the result you want.Take that next action step toward what you value most.
